Governance

At University Centre Somerset, our governance framework is designed to ensure the highest standards of accountability, transparency, and academic excellence.

Dedicated to transparency and academic excellence

The Governing Body, or Corporation, is responsible to the local and wider community to supervise the way University Centre Somerset, part of UCS College Group, is run. Full Governors’ responsibilities are set out in Article 3 of government which includes references to the academic, financial and staffing functions of the college.

We are also committed to supporting access and participation in higher education by students from disadvantaged backgrounds and under-represented groups. We are also determined for University Centre Somerset to meet community needs and provide first class education.

Our Group Strategy for 2022-2027

“Transforming lives and communities through innovative learning and partnerships”.

The Strategic Planning Framework which is in place until 2027 includes four overarching strategic aims are Our People, Our Students, Our Partnerships and Our Operations. These have been developed in response to the current context and the Group’s overall vision.

In addition, the framework identifies three cross cutting themes that will influence our response to the digital transformation, climate emergency and continued work to strengthen equality, diversity, and inclusion for all.

The safe delivery of inspirational teaching, learning and assessment also remains our core priority. We will continue to inspire all our students to achieve their full potential, by delivering a high-quality inspirational experience. As an anchor organisation embedded into our community, we commit to working in partnership with all our stakeholders to deliver our Vision.
