I’m Max, and I study Early Years and Education. What I enjoy most about my course is the placement experience. Being able to go into schools and nurseries and actually work with children has been my favourite part of the course. It’s a real chance to apply what I’ve learned in class and gain practical skills.
Through these placements, I’ve picked up many useful skills, like how to comfort a child and how to handle different situations that can come up. Spending time in real settings has definitely boosted my confidence in my ability to work with children. I feel much more prepared and capable now than when I first started.
At the beginning of the year, we went on a beach trip as part of the course. It was a great way to get to know everyone in the group and start building relationships with my classmates and teachers. Getting to know each other outside of the classroom made a real difference in how we work together.
My future plan is to go to university and become a primary school teacher. I think this course is perfect for that because it offers a lot of valuable experience and also helps us earn UCAS points. The skills I’ve developed here, like working as part of a team and engaging with children, are directly transferable to a teaching career.
Since starting college, I’ve become much more confident, not only in college but also in placement and everyday life. The skills I’ve gained have made me feel more capable and ready to pursue my goal of becoming a primary school teacher.
My teachers and peers have been incredibly supportive throughout my journey. They help us prepare for life after college and guide us during placements. Whether it’s email communication or advice outside of class, they’re always there to assist.
