II’ve always loved performing, and this course has really helped me develop both my confidence and my skills. One of the best things about studying here is getting to work with lecturers who have real industry experience. Learning from people who’ve actually worked in theatre means we get professional insight and advice that’s incredibly valuable.

We’re also really lucky to have access to an amazing theatre on campus. Being able to rehearse and perform in a professional environment makes such a difference, as it helps us understand what it’s really like to work in the industry. Instead of just preparing for a show a few days before, we build our performances from the ground up, just like in the real world.

Each year, we put on around three shows, including a musical at the end of both years, which is always a highlight. Last year we performed Cry Baby, and this year we’re working on We Will Rock You. It’s such a great experience to come together as a group, perform for friends, family, and the public, and see all our hard work pay off. We also take part in smaller projects and devising work, which really help us develop different aspects of our performance skills.

When I first joined college, I was quite shy and not very confident, especially in certain areas of performance. But over time, with the support of my lecturers and classmates, I’ve become so much more confident. Everyone here is friendly and encouraging, and that positive environment makes such a difference.

Outside of the main course, I’ve also taken part in some great enrichment activities. In my first year, I joined the Media Academy, where I learned about acting for film and filming techniques, which was a brilliant experience. This year, I’m part of the Summer Stage Associates Programme, where we get to work with industry professionals Lisa and Tim. They share invaluable audition tips and performance advice, and those sessions have been a fantastic opportunity to learn from people who’ve worked in the business.

A typical day for me runs from about 9am to 4:30pm and includes a mix of rehearsals, dance, and singing lessons, depending on the project we’re working on. Right now, we’re in full rehearsal mode for We Will Rock You, which is really exciting. Even though the days are busy, they’re so much fun, and the support we get with our coursework and theory lessons helps keep everything balanced.

This course has completely confirmed for me that I want to pursue a career in musical theatre, whether that’s performing or working backstage. I love every aspect of it, and I’m so thankful for the opportunities, facilities, and support that have helped me get ready for the next stage in my journey.

I couldn’t be more grateful for the facilities we have here, everything we need is at our fingertips. The support from our lecturers is amazing too. They’ve been such a big part of my journey, offering help and advice on everything from auditions to applying for drama schools. They’re always honest and encouraging, and that’s really helped me grow.
